Emerald Bay provides the ideal amphitheater for Comet NEOWISE to debut its spectacular performance in the predawn hours of July 2020. Made of frozen leftovers from the formation of our solar system, NEOWISE was the brightest comet to grace the Northern Hemisphere in decades, making it visible to the naked eye. Long exposure techniques took advantage of the camera sensor’s sensitivity, absorbing even more of the comet’s delicate light to present lovely detail and reflection in the bay. A once in a lifetime experience, NEOWISE put on a show that will not be seen from Earth for another 6,800 years.
